Heartfelt thanks to all of you who have written about Karsten, I am so grateful for it and deeply moved by how you remember him as a friend and colleague, inspirator, author and lecturer. We miss him terribly, today the urn was lowered into the soil and he has been given a beautiful place with a view at Moss cemetery.
Dear Karsten,
We had the opportunity to work together for JoLA and on many other occasions. I have rarely met a person who is so knowledgeable and professional and yet so kind and generous. You will be sorely missed!
Bruno

Karsten has been a key ressource in the JoLA team for all our exchanges in work, friendship and humour, I will Keep Karsten in mind and heart for ever. My thoughts, love and sympathy with his family and close on these days.
We had previously seen Karsten introducing Jacques Simon to his students in the Kings' kitchen garden in Versailles, but we keep a strong and moving souvenir of those days of june, 2014 when he and his wife welcomed, hosted and guided us so warmly around Oslo for our two first days in Norway : Ås campus, Jeloy, Steinerskol, Drobak, The nicest introduction we could imagine to the country, its landscapes and its people. Please believe in our best thoughts to his family and friends.
I am very sad to hear jarsten passed away. It was 2004 when I visited the first ECLAS-conference as freshly appointed head of studies at the Amsterdam Academy, and at Harsten's house we had a very nice dinner discussing the idea of a Journal for Landscape Architecture. Since then, we met in JoLA, at the many conferences, and had lively exchanges on all sorts of further initiatives to take. This photo is from 2019, 'his' conference in Norway, and due to corona the last time we met. It is a loss. All the best for karsten's family.

Dear Karsten, Anne Mette tells me how hearing news about progress on your work makes you smile. Well, your manuscript is in perfect order and ready to be published. The book you helping to produce is on schedule. We are looking forward to holding it in our hands. Thank you for all of that, and much more. Yours, Diedrich
Karsten was a special friend and colleague. We are so grateful for the opportunity to know him well, the social gatherings and wonderful picnics Karsten organised.
We remember him as a kind, generous and erudite person; his passing leaves a big void.
We will remember you, dear Karsten!
We will remember you, dear Karsten!
Karsten was my first teacher of landscape architecture in early 1990' when he gave a workshop in Tartu, Estonia about landscape architecture. Later on, when I started to study at NLH, he was also my teacher and mentor.
With his help and guidance, a few years later, prof Koit Alekand prepared study program and initiated opening of landscape architecture study program at Estonian University of Life Sciences.
Thank you, Karsten, for all the moments and good efforts you shared with me and my family.
i am so sorry for the loss of great person, i knew Karsten since 1998, i learnt from him. i always remember how much he was so calm and caring for people around him. we will miss you. My great condolences to you Anne Nette, family and friends. Rest in peace and may God bless your soul.
Takk for alt, Karsten
No words will ever do justice to the positive impact Karsten has left on many including me. The legacy Karsten has left is unmatched by any words that can be written. Thank you for everything. You have left wonderful memories that will never fade from my heart. Rest in peace
Karsten was a great supporter for landscape architecture in the middle east, both in Israel and Palestine. We will miss him.
Karsten at James Turrell's Ganzfield, Oslo, 2013
If given the limit of two words to describe Karsten, I would offer knowledgable and generous. He was a wonderful colleague and friend who made enormous contributions to the study and practice of landscape architecture, and the education of landscape architects.
UNISCAPE friendly
I will miss your calm voice, your friendly attitute, your respect for everyone, your broad way of thinking while keeping a sense for every detail.
I thank you for trusting in me and in us and being a real role model for young academics. This has been truly transformative for me in the right moment of my life.
Sharing a lovely memory from one of our many visits across Europe, from Antalya in 2011.
Missing you.
Dear Karsten, thank you for your great work and contribution to the history of landscape architecture and especially landscape architecture education during the last month and weeks. It was a honour to work with you and to meet you as inspiring colleague! We will miss you!
It was a pleasure to meet you and work together in the ECLAS and Le:NOTRE steering committee.
Karsten Jørgensen helped to establish the study program in Landscape architecture at Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in 1994. Since then he visited us with lectures, reviewed PhD theses, was a member of the editorial board of our scientific journal, and always was ready to give advice. He was a Doctor Honoris Causa of LLU since 2014. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues from the Department of Landscape Architecture in Jelgava.
Your clear and knowledgable comments and conversations have always been enriching and your friendly calmness brought a special atmosphere into the Landscape architecture community. Thank you, Karsten.
Dear Karsten. Memories about you are warm and humane. You have been one of the bearers of the circle of friendship amongst European academic landscape architects!
Very sad news. I will miss the inspiring conversations, your wit and good will. Rest in peace, my friend.
Dear Karsten, you were a great personality. I will remember our inspiring meetings and talks. You did a wonderful contribution to European landscape architecture. Rest in peace! Attila
We are all visitors to this time this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love...and then we return home. Go home In Peace Karsten!
I remember Karsten from our Middle East Design Forum peace initiative. It was in 1996, a time when our hopes were high for a new middle East. I organized a Landscape design workshop for Israeli & Palestinian students as well as Spanish and Norweigan students (to commemorate the Madrid and Oslo agreements) in Beit Jala, near Jerusalem.
Karsten was our contact person for norway, and he was incredibly helpful, gentle and committed. We did well, the students were ecstatic, the projects were great, and the teachers too. Then Bibi got elected as prime minister, and shortly after, trashed the peace process.
Karsten continued to work with the Beir Zeit group, trying to establish the landscape profession in Palestine, but over time, we lost contact. I met him again 23 years later, at the ECLAS conference in Norway. My hair had become white by then, and I was surprised to see the exact same Karsten that I knew... As if he hadn't aged at all. And again, his soft-spoken, full commitment was there. I am honored to have known and worked with such a generous caring individual. May he rest in peace.
Dear Karsten I could not meet you personally but I was lucky to read some of your publications. I learned a lot from what you have done and I know I have a lot more to learn from your works. The pathway you have created will help our progress to the future. Thank you very much. Rest in peace.
Dear Karsten,
Will miss your voice, your gentleness, your guide, your vision. You captured my admiration since the very first time we met.
My landscape without you will never be the same.
Rest In Peace, dear friend.
Bildet sier alt.

We first met at Birzeit University in Ramallah at a conference on conflict landscapes around 2007. You were advising a number of landscape PhD students from Palestine and I am sure you will leave a lasting legacy in this beautiful and troubled landscape. We met again at the IFLA conference in Oslo which was an amazing gathering and exchange of knowledge. Thankyou for all you have contributed to this beautiful planet and to landscape. Rest in Peace.
Dear Karsten,
It was great to have worked with you, and saddened to know we lost such opportunities. We will all miss you. Hope you rest in peace
